Marcus Allen

S, Penn State

It was a nice night for Penn State against Georgia State. They flexed their muscles on both ends of the ball as they routed Georgia State. For Marcus Allen, it was a really nice night for him and his draft stock.

Allen’s strengths come from his ability to stop the run and get physical. It’s his coverage skills that will ultimately push him up boards as draft season comes around. To his credit, he had a huge interception on Saturday night.

He did a great job picking off Conner Manning and returning the football 50 yards. The Nittany Lions continue to show why they are defending Big Ten Champions and with defensive showings like last night, it’s hard to argue otherwise at this point.

Allen is having a great start to the season and he had a few tackles to go with that interception. He’s one of those talents right now that solidified his spot near or just inside the top 32. With a high floor, he has a great opportunity to push himself to his ceiling.

The Nittany Lions will begin conference play on the road next week against the Iowa Hawkeyes. Conference road games are never easy and it will be important to set the tone defensively early. Allen can get his guys off to the right start with a big hit or play to begin things.
