13. Marcus Mariota (Prev: 13)

Mariota has to get it going a little bit. The Titans are 1-1 after waxing the Jaguars 37-16, but the Hawaiian only has 471 yards and one touchdown thus far. That said, the talent is undeniable, and it feels only a matter of time before he gets rolling.

12. Jameis Winston (Prev: 11)

Winston has all the talent any quarterback could ask for. The Heisman Trophy winner has a huge arm, a perfect body and mobility. Against the Bears, Winston threw for 204 yards and a touchdown, albeit while getting away with a trio of potential picks. If there’s any bugaboo to his success, that’s it.

11. Dak Prescott (Prev: 7)

Prescott is one of the better young players in the league, but the Cowboys need better than they’ve gotten over the first two weeks. So far, he’s completed

10. Alex Smith (Prev: 12)

Two games into the season, Smith might be the NFL MVP. The veteran has thrown for 619 yards on 9.83 yards per attempt while completing 77.8 percent of his throws. In addition, he has five touchdowns with zero interceptions and a 134.1 passer rate. All of the above stats are at least a top-five ranking. Oh, and the Chiefs are 2-0 after beating the Patriots and Eagles.

9. Russell Wilson (Prev: 6)

Wilson’s stats are awful. He has completed 56.1 percent of his attempts for 356 yards with a single touchdown. He’s averaging 5.39 yards per attempt. Yet Wilson gets a pass based on his two-Super Bowl history, and the fact that he’s playing behind the worst offensive line on earth.

8. Derek Carr (Prev: 10)

Carr has been spectacular, but it has gone under the radar so far. The Raiders are 2-0 and their quarterback has 492 yards and five touchdowns with a 75 percent completing rate. Right now, it looks like the Raiders and Chiefs are on a collision course in the AFC West.

7. Matthew Stafford (Prev: 8)

Stafford was nothing special on Monday night, throwing for less than 150 yards. Still, the highest-paid player in NFL history tossed a pair of touchdowns and has engineered a pair of upset victories to start the season.

6. Philip Rivers (Prev: 9)

You have to feel bad for Rivers. He’s one of the best players in this generation, and yet he’ll never be remembered as such because of his rancid team. The Chargers are 0-2 because they can’t kick a field goal, while Rivers is out here throwing for 523 yards and four touchdowns in two games. Get this man out of Los Angeles.

5. Ben Roethlisberger (Prev: 5)

Roethlisberger has been living on easy street to this point, beating the Browns and the shorthanded Vikings. Big Ben has hit on 66 percent of his throws with four touchdowns, and ow gets a horrendous Bears secondary to pick on this Sunday.
