2018 NFL Mock Draft: Jets, 49ers get their franchise quarterbacks
By Brad Weiss
For the Arizona Cardinals, this could be the final year of their small window to get back to an NFC Championship Game. Starting quarterback Carson Palmer is getting up there in age, as is veteran wide receiver Larry Fitzgerald. Star running back David Johnson is out for at least a couple of months as well, which means the Cardinals could be in for a long season in 2017.
If the Cardinals do not turn this thing around, they will likely be picking earlier in the first round. With their first round pick, they need to bring in a new quarterback, and Mason Rudolph would be a perfect fit in Arizona. Rudolph may be the most NFL-ready quarterback in this draft class, and has shown to be a legitimate first round prospect this season.
Rudolph has led the Oklahoma State Cowboys to the top of the college football landscape, and the team is currently in the top-10 in the AP Poll. He has tremendous accuracy, and has the kind of footwork that is definitely needed in today’s NFL. The Cardinals will have to turn the page from Palmer this upcoming season, and Rudolph has the experience to be able to come in and start right away.
