2018 NFL Mock Draft: Jets, 49ers get their franchise quarterbacks
By Brad Weiss
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers had to wait an extra week to open their 2017 season, as their game with the Miami Dolphins in Week 1 was canceled due to Hurricane Irma. Still, it did not take long for the Buccaneers to get on track, as they absolutely thrashed the Chicago Bears on Sunday. The Bears played the Atlanta Falcons much tougher in Week 1, so you have to wonder just how good this Bucs team is this season.
In 2017, the Buccaneers should finally make it back to the playoffs, as quarterback Jameis Winston is one of the best young signal-callers in the game. They will be picking later in round one, and they should look to continue to bolster the defensive line with the pick. Da’Shawn Hand has seen it all during his time at Alabama, and has the leadership qualities you look for in a young player.
Hand is a champion, and that is the kind of culture they are looking to build in Tampa Bay. Winston is a no-nonsense kind of quarterback, who demands the respect of his teammates. Hand is the kind of player who keeps his head down and does his work, which he has learned from the years he has spent under head coach Nick Saban. Tampa Bay is building something special, and Hand could wind up bring a special player at the next level.
