4. Jeff Brohm on Purdue’s over-confidence

If you read the headlines heading into Week 4, you’d probably wonder when Purdue got so much confidence. The Boilermakers have been one of the laughing stocks of the Big Ten for the better part of a decade, but now that former Western Kentucky head coach Jeff Brohm has taken over, the program’s headed in the right direction.

After a 2-1 start to the year which included a close loss to Louisville and Lamar Jackson, Purdue felt confident that it could beat Michigan in Week 4.

Well, the Wolverines took care of business and Brohm wasn’t afraid to call out his guys for being too confident heading into the contest.

It’s good to hear Brohm say this. He had one of his players say that it was going to feel good when Purdue pulled off an upset against Michigan earlier in the week. Clearly that backfired and Michigan used it as bulletin board material.

Next time, Purdue players should probably win a couple of conference games before talking like they’re world-beaters.
