2. Nick Saban on earning Vanderbilt’s respect

Heading into a Week 4 contest against Vanderbilt, Alabama wasn’t getting much respect from the Commodores. In fact, Vanderbilt players were stating that they couldn’t wait to face Alabama and the Crimson Tide “are next” after beating Kansas State a week ago.

Vanderbilt, like Purdue with Michigan, was so confident that it would pull off the upset against the No. 1 team in the country that it almost made the rest of the country believe it. Unfortunately, the game did not end in the Commodores’ favor.

Alabama played angry the entire game and put on a show for the Commodore crowd. The Tide won the game 59-0 and Nick Saban even cracked a smile — yes, you read that right. He also had this to say about earning the Commodores’ respect.

Think the Crimson Tide were a little motivated to blow the doors off Vanderbilt in Week 4? Usually you don’t see Saban making these type of comments as he claims he doesn’t read headlines, but Alabama forced Vanderbilt to respect it — and that’s signature Alabama.
