John Fox

Head Coach, Chicago Bears

If there’s an odds-on favorite for a head coach who is certain to be fired, it’s John Fox. If the Bears bring Fox back for another year, then someone had better check the water supply in Chicago because it’s clearly been tampered with.

Fox is a guy who coached the Jake Delhomme-led Carolina Panthers to nearly beating the Patriots in Super Bowl XXXIII. He’s also a guy who once asked if winning the division was enough to hang your hat on. Things haven’t gone any better for Fox in Chicago, where he wasn’t even brought in on discussions about trading up for Mitchell Trubisky. That’s not a good sign for the future of your employment, and the writing seems to be on the wall in bold Sharpie for Fox.

The future for the Bears is actually pretty bright. Trubisky, based on preseason performance only, looks like he might be a franchise player. The defense has holes but also pieces that could turn it into a real force down the line. Jordan Howard and Tarik Cohen appear to be the one-two punch Chicago needs in the backfield. There are things to like about the Bears but nothing is really set in place right now; everything seems to be about the future and it’s one that won’t include Fox running things.
