Ben McAdoo

Head Coach, New York Giants

Every year there’s a coach who unexpectedly winds up on the hot seat, seemingly doing so out of nowhere. This year that guy is Ben McAdoo, but the reasoning makes a ton of sense.

All you have to do it throw on some film from any play of either of the Giants first two games. There isn’t a single play that convinces you this is a team that could compete for the Super Bowl. It’s easy to peg the absence of Odell Beckham as a reason why the team is struggling, but it’s not the only reason the team is losing. Eli Manning can’t count backward from 25, but he can’t be blamed too much since he’s playing behind an offensive line less equipped to blocking than a cubicle divider.

McAdoo could pull off the rare zero-to-sixty feat as far as his job security is concerned. He entered the year being a middle of the road coach, but in the span of two weeks is ready to go scorched earth. He’s calling out the franchise quarterback to the New York media, which is like throwing a hunk of meat into a piranha pool. McAdoo still has time to turn things around in New York, but the first two games combined with his unprompted bridge burning has painted a large target on his back and turned the heat up on his seat.
