Tarvarus McFadden

CB, Florida State

A lot of context has to be provided when judging average performances from top Florida State players right now. Losing their star quarterback to start the season certainly dealt a crushing blow to the team.

Then the devastating effects of hurricane season caused them to have more time off than they had ever anticipated. So, they finally took the field again against N.C. State and they had to shake off the rust.

Instead, they looked like a team that really wasn’t into it. They played uncharacteristically and McFadden didn’t register anything but one pass defensed on the day. His coverage was fine on the day, but it wasn’t up there with his best performances.

His stock isn’t hurt by the loss and it wasn’t a terrible day by any stretch. This is a unique position for the program where a string of bad luck has gotten them off to a slow start in a year they expected so much more.

Calvin Ridley

WR, Alabama

Calvin Ridley continues to prove to be one of the all-time great Alabama wide receivers. As he races up the leader board on several categories, Ridley continues to improve his NFL Draft stock overall.

It’s impressive that he has been able to achieve such feats considering the fact that it’s taken time for him to find a groove with his younger quarterbacks. Nonetheless, Alabama and Ridley blew out Vanderbilt on Saturday.

Despite the fact it was 59-0, it was a game that was dominated on the ground. Alabama ran the ball a whopping 66 times for 496 yards. Their goal was to punish the Vanderbilt defense on the ground all day.

Ridley still managed to haul in five receptions for 43 yards and showed off his hands. While it wasn’t the biggest performance of his career, he climbed up several school ranks and continued to define his greatness within the program.
