NFL Draft 2018 player rankings – Saquon Barkley worthy of top pick?
Derrius Guice had a strange week. After being ruled out initially against Syracuse, he did see some playing time. He had a touchdown on just eight carries for only 14 yards. It’s not a performance to take much away from as he didn’t see much playing time.
Guice had tweaked his knee the week prior against Mississippi State and the team was going to take every precaution with him. It was good to see him see a little bit of action but after getting the touchdown it made sense not to push it further.
With the win under their belt, Guice should be a lot more fresh for upcoming action as his knee should be much better. It’s a good sign that he was actually able to get into the game after being ruled out previously as well.
Before anyone gets shades of Leonard Fournette’s final year with the Tigers, it should be noted that there is plenty of time on the year for Guice to get his carries and get plenty of action. At the end of the day, it’s better to have a healthy Guice than one that isn’t completely right.
Harold Landry and Boston College didn’t get the win against Clemson on the road and the pass rushing specialist had a bit of a tough night. Yes, he had eight total tackles and made some plays but it was tough sledding.
Going against the likes of Mitch Hyatt and the Clemson offensive line is no easy task. Landry has had to face some of the best tackle prospects in the country already this season, so he’s going to have his tape combed over thoroughly.
His unique skill set and ability to use a variety of moves has made the best offensive linemen fall across from him. He’s going to get his sacks soon enough with the effort that he brings and they tend to come in bunches when he does.
For now, doing the other little things and helping out in the run game is working in his favor. If he’s not going to get to the quarterback, he’s going to be somewhere. He’s a special talent that is going to continue to show out.
