Josh Rosen

QB, UCLA

Josh Rosen and the UCLA Bruins found themselves in a shootout with Stanford on Saturday night. After two big wins to start the season, the Bruins have now dropped two straight and their first conference game as well.

For those that want plenty of tape to examine, Rosen gave plenty of it. He passed a remarkable 60 times on the night, completing 40 of those passes. He finished the night with 480 yards along with three touchdowns and two interceptions.

He made some great reads and did what he could to give his team a chance. The defensive woes of his team can’t be placed on his shoulders, as he has had to try and lead some serious rallies before.

It speaks to how bad everything else has been when Rosen is having big performances and the team can’t win games behind them. His team’s win-loss record is certainly not an indictment of his talent at all.

Orlando Brown

OT, Oklahoma

The Oklahoma Sooners had to pound their way to victory against Baylor on Saturday. They ran the ball in exciting fashion however. The Sooners were able to rack up 342 yards on 40 carries as they made a statement on the ground.

Their running game starts up front with Orlando Brown. The massive mountain of a man continues to maul anyone in his way. His run blocking ability is impressive to say the least and he opens up massive running lanes.

As the season continues on, he’s going to keep pushing himself as not just a first-round pick but a high one. He could be the first offensive lineman off the board and the season that he’s having thus far is helping his cause.

It’s very rare to see someone 6’8″ and over 340 pounds with the athletic ability he possesses. That rare talent alone has him paving the way for a big season for his quarterback and running game. They had to earn their victory on Saturday, but the offense made sure to push their way through. Brown will have Iowa State next before facing some serious pass rushing talent against Texas in a few weeks.
