Arden Key

OLB, LSU

Arden Key is going to need some time to get back into shape. After returning from shoulder surgery last week against Mississippi State, it was clear that Key had gotten bigger and wasn’t in pristine shape just yet.

It was also clear that he was going to need plenty of time to shake off the rust. Against Syracuse this past week, the same issues were there as he didn’t have the impact yet that people are used to with him.

He’s going to need time to get his playing shape back and then he should get that burst back. For now, he’s going to need time to work his way back. The Tigers rebounded with a nice win, but they’re going to look for better in their next conference game.

Key has to get better and get in shape fast if they want to get to where they want to be. Right now, he’s a little slower and bigger than preferred. Fortunately, he should be able to get that all worked out.

Maurice Hurst

DT, Michigan

Maurice Hurst is a menace to society and everyone that is in the backfield opposite of him. Against Purdue on Saturday, the Michigan defense once again proved to be the backbone for another victory for the program.

Hurst had one spectacular play in particular where he shot in the backfield right off the snap. He finished the day with three tackles and continued to make his case as perhaps the best defensive linemen in the country.

What makes him even more special is the fact that he brings that same energy and passion every play. He isn’t one to take plays off after making a big one in return.

That was on display against the Boilermakers. Now, the Wolverines will get a week to rest before they take on Michigan State. Their schedule starts to pick up and they’ll need Hurst and the defense more than ever going forward.
