The 2017 edition of WWE No Mercy is in the books. This is what we learned, what our takeaways are and what’s likely in the cards for the superstars of Raw.

WWE No Mercy has come and gone. The 2017 edition of the event, held in Los Angeles, California, proved to be one of the best shows in an already terrific year. STAPLES Center has seen its fair share of great WWE events before. It’s a certainty that No Mercy 2017 will go down as one of them.

The No Mercy Kickoff Show featured a match between Apollo Crews and Elias. The two former NXT superstars did battle to begin the in-ring portion of the program. The Titus Worldwide representative came up short against Elias, who proved victorious Sunday night in LA. Sidebar: Cannot imagine anyone who wouldn’t want to walk with Elias. Could you?

The win for Elias certainly keeps him established in the midcard right now. Elias is showing improvement and crowds are reacting well to his act. Titus Worldwide, on the other hand, seems to be in need of a jolt. Especially so after Akira Tozawa lost the Cruiserweight Championship last month. Perhaps a run in the tag team division for Apollo and Tozawa — who have worked as a tag team in other promotions — could be in the cards.

Anyways, on to the main program.

Intercontinental Championship Match

The Miz vs. Jason Jordan

What we learned: The Miz’s run as Intercontinental Champion continues on. The Awesome One received a boatload of cheers from the LA crowd throughout the match. Imagine telling someone that would happen a few years ago. He continues to excel in these spots and has brought eyes to the Intercontinental Championship. Say what you will about him, but the man is essentially the modern day IC Champ, and when you think of that title, The Miz is who comes to mind.

Jason Jordan, meanwhile, did himself well in the match too. Jordan was probably never going to win in his first shot at the gold. Had they done that, that probably would’ve been the wrong decision. Especially considering crowd reactions, which have been subpar to say the least. Jordan has a long way to go, but he has had good-to-great matches with Miz, Roman Reigns and John Cena in the last few weeks. Clearly, they see something in him. And clearly, there’s something there.

What’s next: For Jordan, things are looking a bit more ambiguous than Miz. Hanging around the midcard is the likeliest of scenarios. The trouble, perhaps, is that there’s not necessarily an open person available. Elias seems like a solid candidate in his own right, but beyond that they will have to be creative.

Meanwhile, Miz and The Miztourage will be in the ring on Monday night. The IC Champion will host a special episode of MizTV. The guest for that show? Roman Reigns. That should be must-see TV. We may finally get an IC Title feud between Reigns and Miz. Or, perhaps since a 3-on-1 scene will be on display, something else could be in the cards…
