Fantasy football: top 10 waiver wire Week 4 pickups
5. Bruce Ellington
If you’ve been a long-time follower on Twitter, you’ll know of my adoration for Bruce Ellington. As a dynasty player, we can display some form of patience, but after three years of little-to-no production in San Francisco, I was all but out on the 2014 fourth round pick from South Carolina. But now, we are back.
Ellington flashed signs of his great play all through the preseason, but was still not a sure bet for production with the woeful Tom Savage leading the team at quarterback. On Sunday against the Patriots, with Deshaun Watson having a fantastic game, Ellington caught four balls for 59 yards and his first touchdown as a Texan. Just as encouraging as his final fantasy points total was target total (seven) and his usage:
Moving forward, I can certainly see him developing as a top option behind DeAndre Hopkins (who will continue to dominate the targets). Ellington is a fantastic route runner, dynamic with the ball in his hands, and can come down with tough catches in the middle of the field. Snap him up.
