Kentucky Wildcats (3-1)

Last week: Loss vs. No. 20 Florida, 28-27
Last rank: 8th

This might have been the year, until it wasn’t. The losing streak to Florida continues, as the Kentucky Wildcats came up a point short at home in Lexington on Saturday night, 28-27. Let’s not bury Kentucky, as this might end up being one of the better teams in the SEC this year.

The Wildcats will need to beat Georgia, Tennessee and Vanderbilt to get to Atlanta, but there is at least a path to get to the SEC Championship for this team. It’s not a very navigable one, but this team can win over eight games and play in a meaningful bowl game this holiday season.

LSU Tigers (3-1)

Last week: Win vs. Syracuse, 35-26
Last rank: 4th

LSU may have won last week, but not beating the you know what out of Syracuse should not be a sign of good things to come for Ed Orgeron’s program. We know that Coach O is a heck of a motivator, recruiter and defensive line coach, but he might be over his skis as the leader of a Power 5 program.

Having to play five of eight SEC games away from Tiger Stadium only hurts the Bayou Bengals. They already lost their first SEC road game over in Starkville. This might be an LSU team that struggles to get to eight or nine wins this year under Orgeron.
