2. Latavius Murray, Minnesota Vikings

Prior to drafting Cook, the Vikings signed Murray as a free agent to theoretically be their No. 1 running back. But ankle surgery sidelined him for a big chunk of offseason work and the preseason, and opened the door for Cook to take the reins as he did.

Murray had 12 rushing touchdowns for the Oakland Raiders in 2016, and he had 74 receptions over the 2015 and 2016 seasons. He might not be terribly explosive, averaging an even four yards per carry last year, but Murray has a nose for the end zone, can catch passes capably and has an opportunity ahead of him now in the Minnesota offense. All of that is more than enough to put him back on the fantasy radar.

The main concern for Murray’s fantasy value going forward, assuming of course Cook is indeed out for the season, is a possible 50-50 workload split with McKinnon. But his physical build and solid all-around prowess make him the preferred fantasy replacement for Cook in the Vikings’ new running back mix.
