No. 20: Utah Utes

Ranking coming into Week 5: No. 20

The Utes were off this week like some of the teams in the Top 25 this week. But, things are about to get a lot tougher. In the next two weeks, the Utes play Stanford and USC in back-to-back weeks. Good luck, Utes. That’s going to be tough.

No. 19: Virginia Tech Hokies

Ranking coming into Week 5: No. 12

The Hokies had a prime opportunity to take control of the ACC title race with a huge win over defending champion Clemson at home on Saturday night and instead, the Tigers did what they’ve been doing for a few years now and that’s win big games. Clemsoning is dead and VT’s chances of the Playoff might be gone, too.

No. 18: San Diego Aztecs

Ranking coming into Week 5: No. 19

The Aztecs were still playing at the time of these ranking projections, but they had a 31-21 on Northern Illinois at the most recent time.

No. 17: South Florida Bulls

Ranking coming into Week 5: No. 18

South Florida is one of the most confusing teams in all of college football. On one note, they hung 61 points on a terrible East Carolina team to stay undefeated this season under Charlie Strong. On the other, it was a 38-31 game late in the third quarter. The Bulls may be a top-20 team right now, but they’re not playing like it most of the time. Still, they’re unbeaten and that’s the key.

No. 16: Louisville Cardinals

Ranking coming into Week 5: No. 17

Lamar Jackson is good and Louisville blew out fellow in-state school Murray State by 45 points. Next for the Cards? A tricky matchup with NC State, who picked up a win at home against Syracuse on Saturday afternoon.
