1. Bilal Powell

With Elijah McGuire being the first name on this list, it’s possible you thought it meant I didn’t have faith in Bilal Powell.

Quite the contrary.

I’m not sure which way this will go but Powell is much safer bet as well as someone who has had great success in the past for fantasy football owners.

The Jets haven’t been able to get much going on the ground this season, but Matt Forte was doing a decent job with a 4.1 yards per carry average before his turf toe injury last week. Powell has only managed 72 yards on 28 carries (2.6 yards per), while the rookie McGuire has 63 on only 13 attempts, averaging 4.8 yards per carry.

However, the reason to believe in Powell is his receiving prowess, and the fact that it’s likely help be on the field for passing work and a good split of the rushing work.

This week’s opponents, the Jacksonville Jaguars, are 28th in the league against the run and there is a good chance both backs see a good chunk of carries. In addition, Jacksonville is number one against the pass and don’t allow opposing receivers to get open. This is a prime opportunity for a check-down back like Powell to rack up the short-yardage receptions, and he could break one on the ground.
