4. Wendell Smallwood

The Eagles fourth round pick from last year had his break out against the Giants defense this weekend, when he rushed for 71 yards on 12 carries. The workload was split between the second year man and veteran LeGarrette Blount, but outside of one long Blount run, Smallwood looks like the much more explosive and powerful back capable of making bigger place.

This week the Eagles head to Los Angeles to face the Chargers and a defense who is ranked second-worst league in rushing yards allowed with 146.7 yards per game given up so far.

It took until Week 3 for the Eagles to establish their running game, as Blount saw the majority of the carries in Week 1, and veteran Darren Sproles took over in Week 2.

However now that Sproles is out for the year with a combo of season-ending injuries, it’s Smallwood’s time to shine. He is going against a weak rushing defense, and could lead his team in carries.
