2. Latavius Murray

It was a horrific week for injuries in the NFL, and none was more heartbreaking than the one suffered by Minnesota’s star rookie running back Dalvin Cook. Against the Detroit Lions, Cook fell to the ground holding his knee without being touched. The injury was exactly what we had feared the most.

After Cook left the game, Latavius Murray stepped in alongside fourth-year back Jerrick McKinnon and they combined for only 21 yards on nine carries. The team will have been a bit deflated after the injury, but moving forward expect the veteran (who the team signed to a big contract before Cook was even drafted in the second round) to see the bulk of the carries.

Although Cook has been the star in the backfield, the offensive line hasn’t been bad, and the team as a whole have gained over 100 rushing yards per game. Murray might be a big step down from the rookie, but he will still be able to make some noise behind this line.
