Fantasy football Week 5 2017 rankings: Who to start and sit
Sit: LeGarrette Blount
The Philadelphia Eagles ground game has finally started getting going. It was supposed to be the strength of this team, but in Week 1 they could barely get past the line of scrimmage as Blount was the team’s leading rusher with only 46 yards on 14 attempts. In Week 2, they didn’t fare much better and quarterback Carson Wentz was the team’s top runner. Blount didn’t even have a single carry to his name.
But over the past two weeks, there have been drastic improvements. Blount is now up to 249 yards on 42 carries for the season and his average carry goes for 5.9 yards. Against the Giants and Chargers, he averaged 5.6 and 8.5 yards per rush, respectively and he had a number of ‘beast mode’-like runs in Los Angeles.
However this week, the Eagles face an Arizona Cardinals defense that is a top ten unit against the run. They have held opponents to just 88 yards per game and most recently, another bruising runner Carlos Hyde was held to 68 yards on the ground. Although Blount looked fantastic last week, he did it against one of the worst running defenses in the league – the Chargers have the second-worst rushing defense and can’t stop anyone. This week it might be wise to use other options.
