Fantasy football Week 5 2017 rankings: Who to start and sit
Sit: Amari Cooper
Before the season started, many of us envisioned that Amari Cooper would take the leap from a good receiver who has had over 1,000 yards and five touchdowns in his first two seasons to one who would be a weekly game-winner. However, this hasn’t been the case at all in 2017 and Cooper has struggled majorly.
He leads the league in drops (with seven in just four games), and has had outings of 5-62, 4-33, 1-6 and most recently 2-9 against the Denver Broncos – owners are understandably frustrated. They have every right to be, and with Derek Carr now ruled out for next week’s game against Baltimore and potentially even further, things might not get better any time soon.
To be fair to E.J. Manuel, he looked pretty good in the relief of the injured Carr against the Broncos, but teams playing against him knowing he’ll be the starter is a different story. This Oakland offense will likely continue to struggle, meaning little production for its fantasy assets. You’ll have to sit Cooper for as long as it takes before he proves he should be back in lineups.
