1. TCU Horned Frogs

Rank: 8, Opponent: (23) West Virginia Mountaineers

The TCU Horned Frogs enjoyed a week off after knocking off the then-No. 6 ranked Oklahoma State Cowboys. With that win, they established themselves as a team that invariably has to be taken seriously, and now they’re the eighth-ranked team in the country to further prove that. Now they’ll be back on the field in Week 6 and will be tested again against a West Virginia Mountaineers team that has been impressive in accruing a 3-1 record to this point.

West Virginia also had last week off and enter this massive Big 12 matchup having scored 56 or more points in their last three games. Florida transfer and starting quarterback Will Grier has been one of the more underrated players in the country this season, having thrown for 1,374 yards, 13 touchdowns and a mere three interceptions in only four games. Meanwhile, senior running back Justin Crawford offers a balanced attack for the Mountaineers offense, with 451 yards and six touchdowns on 61 carries.

To this point, WVU’s only loss on the year came in their opener against Virginia Tech, as they were held to 24 points in a tough matchup with a good football team. We know that TCU’s defense has proven to be able to slow down explosive offenses, which is why they’re favored by almost two touchdowns. However, estimating Grier and the Mountaineers would be a massive mistake on Saturday afternoon.
