3 reasons Miami is officially back after beating Florida State
Malik Rosier is proving himself capable of leading a title-worthy team
Coming into the season, the only real question mark on Miami’s roster was the quarterback position. Fortunately for the Hurricanes, Rosier is looking like a capable enough signal caller who can lead his team in the toughest of environments.
After the somewhat surprising departure of junior quarterback Brad Kaaya to the NFL, Miami was lost at quarterback heading into fall camp. True freshman N’Kosi Perry and sophomore Evan Shirreffs were in competition with the inexperienced junior Rosier, but none really emerged throughout camp with the season just days away.
Finally, Richt named Rosier the starting quarterback on Aug. 22 following a heated open competition. Rosier has responded by throwing for 1,074 yards on 134 attempts with 11 touchdowns to three interceptions.
While Rosier didn’t have his best game in terms of accuracy, he tossed three touchdown passes and led the game-winning drive in the final two minutes with a hostile Florida State crowd roaring. Rosier can do some damage on the ground with his dual-threat ability and has generally done a good job of avoiding mistakes.

With Richards back at full strength, look for Rosier’s numbers to get even better. Miami’s one missing piece appeared to be a quarterback heading into the season, but Rosier is capable enough to do some damage with a stacked roster around him.
