10 WR sleepers to target for fantasy football week 5
6. Sterling Shepard
The hottest waiver wire commodity from just a couple of weeks ago will have let down fantasy owners with his five catch, 54 yards line against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Sunday.
We expected Eli Manning to come through with a huge game after Case Keenum ripped apart the Bucs for 369 yards, and although he managed 288 yards, he threw touchdowns to tight end Rhett Ellison and running back Wayne Gallman and kept one rushing touchdown to himself. It wasn’t a good game for relevant fantasy assets.
However Sterling Shepard is still a big part of the Giants plants, so fear not. This week against the Los Angeles Chargers, running back Paul Perkins has been ruled out with a rib injury and the already-weak rushing attack is missing their top option.
Although the Los Angeles Chargers have one of the worst rushing defenses in the NFL, the Giants also have perhaps the least balanced offence in the league and they seem to have no interest in running the ball.
Therefore, although I do expect Gallman to have some success, it should be another pass-heavy outing and Shepard is a key part of that. Don’t give up after last week.
