No. 5: Washington Huskies (6-0)

Ranking coming into Week 6: No. 6

Don’t look now, but here come the Huskies once again to crash the College Football Playoff party. The Huskies jumped out to a 24-0 halftime lead against Cal on Saturday night and cruised to a victory at home. The schedule is aligned for Washington to run the table and get back to the Pac-12 title game and potentially the CFP. Four of their final six games are at home, including games against Utah and the Apple Cup against Washington State in the season finale.

No. 4: Georgia Bulldogs (6-0)

Ranking coming into Week 6: No. 5

This was also said last week, but if there’s one team that could potentially keep Alabama from the College Football Playoff for the first time since the start of the four-team playoff in 2014, it very well may be the Georgia Bulldogs. Behind the smash-and-dash duo of Nick Chubb and Sony Michel, the Dawgs look like one of the strongest teams in America with another blowout victory in conference play against Vanderbilt.

No. 3: Penn State Nittany Lions (6-0)

Ranking coming into Week 6: No. 4

At halftime of Penn State’s victory over Northwestern on Saturday afternoon in Evanston, Saquon Barkley had -1 rushing yard on less than 10 carries. One 53-yard touchdown run later and Barkley remained atop the Heisman Trophy race for the unbeaten Nittany Lions. PSU’s defense held the Wildcats scoreless through the first three quarters and with Michigan’s loss at home later in the day, PSU is sitting in prime position to take the Big Ten East Division title again.

No. 2: Clemson Tigers (6-0)

Ranking coming into Week 6: No. 2

Clemson got off to a hot start with two scores in the first quarter on Saturday afternoon against a feisty Wake Forest bunch and although the Demon Deacons made it interesting late, the Tigers remained undefeated in their title-defending season and continued to remain on the heels of the team they’ve played in the last two national title games.

No. 1: Alabama Crimson Tide (6-0)

Ranking coming into Week 6: No. 1

The Tide may not have been as dominant as they were in the previous five weeks of the season, but the nation’s top team stayed unbeaten with a 27-19 victory at Kyle Field over Texas A&M on Saturday night in College Station. Damien Harris ran for 124 yards and a touchdown on just 14 carries to lead the three-headed rushing attack for Alabama.
