2018 NFL Mock Draft: Darnold goes to New York, but not the Jets
By Brad Weiss
The San Francisco 49ers made a valiant effort in Week 5, as they nearly came back from two scores in the fourth quarter to beat the Indianapolis Colts. However, they failed to put up any points in overtime and were done in by an Adam Vinatieri field goal. The loss ran their record to 0-5 on the young season and has them in place to draft in the top three picks next April.
With that pick, they should bring in their new franchise quarterback. Head coach Kyle Shanahan is a genius at working with quarterbacks, and whoever they decide to draft, will certainly be in good hands. At No. 3, they should bring in Josh Rosen, who has proven to be one of the best signal-callers in the country this season.
Rosen plays his college ball at UCLA, so he will be staying in-state with the 49ers. While he does have a propensity to make bonehead plays at times, there is no denying how talented he is at the quarterback position. There may be some growing pains with him under center, but Shanahan has a six-year deal and needs to go after it with his players in place. Rosen would be a nice start.
