Kendall Joseph

LB, Clemson

The Clemson defense continued to do their thing against Wake Forest this past week. Until the fourth quarter against Wake Forest, the Tigers were posting a shutout. Two touchdowns in the final quarter would push the game closer than they would have liked, but it was another win in a row for the program.

Kendall Joseph had himself a nice night as well. The linebacker finished the night with six tackles and played with plenty of intensity. In fact, his best play was one he ended up missing on for as strange as that sounds.

He nearly annihilated Wake Forest quarterback Kendall Hilton on a play, but ended up missing. His team still got the sack on the play, but his energy put it all into motion on another nice night for the linebacker.

Joseph finished the night with six tackles and that one aforementioned quarterback hurry. The Tigers are on a short week this week, as they will play Syracuse on Friday night. Then they’ll get a little over two weeks off with the bye.

Courtland Sutton

WR, SMU

His team might have dropped a tough game on the road, but Courtland Sutton is off and rolling on the season. After having to adjust to the process of being the focus of every defensive game plan, Sutton has found his groove.

The wide receiver followed up a strong night against UConn with another great performance against Houston. He showed off that possession ability that makes him such a coveted prospect at the next level.

Sutton finished the night with 11 catches for 160 yards. Although he didn’t find the end zone, his impact was noticeable and a reminder that it takes time for even the best to adjust to finally being the man.

No longer is he flying under the radar any more in college football. Now, he’s going to be the focus every week for each defense he faces. If he keeps rolling the way he has been, he will push his stock higher.
