1. Philadelphia Eagles (+3.5) at Carolina Panthers

The best game of the week will also be the first. That would be the Thursday Night Football game between the Philadelphia Eagles and the Carolina Panthers. Both teams are 4-1. The winner of this game will emerge as a serious contender to come out of the NFC.

While the Panthers should be favored in this one as it is in Charlotte, take the Eagles getting 3.5 points. The Eagles offensive line is better than Carolina’s. Eagles defensive coordinator Jim Schwartz will devise a great game plan to get pressure on Panthers quarterback Cam Newton.

Carolina might be riding high, but the Eagles could come out of this one victorious. Getting more than a field goal in a huge primetime game is big for Philadelphia. Look for the Eagles’ second-year quarterback Carson Wentz to have his big coming out party on Thursday. It’s not like the Panthers are elite in the secondary anyway.

If Carolina wins, it won’t be by more than a field goal. Philadelphia could absolutely upset the Panthers in Charlotte to improve to 5-1 on the season. The Eagles seem to be more even-keeled than Carolina. That will matter in this game. Not sure the Eagles win but take the points.
