No. 25 Navy at Memphis

Kickoff: Saturday, Oct. 15, 3:45 PM, ESPNU

A matchup that’s not on the radar of most people that’ll draw a lot of eyes this weekend is Navy-Memphis. With stellar play, Navy has slowly worked its way into the Top 25.

They have a tough matchup on the road against Memphis, so let’s take a look at something things to watch.

Three Things to Watch

1. Can Memphis put up a 70-spot on the scoreboard again?

The Memphis Tigers were absolutely dominant last week, putting up 70 points on their opponent. Doesn’t happen very often in college football, so can they do it again this weekend?

Navy’s defense has been much more solid and I don’t think they’ll give up that many points to Memphis. The Tigers are dominant offensively, but I don’t see a repeat.

2. Can Tigers’ QB Riley Ferguson figure it out this week?

Ferguson has had a crazy two-week stretch for the Tigers. He was simply spectacular last week, tossing for seven touchdowns, but threw for three interceptions the week before that.

Which Ferguson will show up this week against the Midshipmen? That’ll be an important factor in who walks away victorious.

3. Can Navy keep running the ball down the Tigers’ throat?

The Midshipmen running game has been fantastic, averaging nearly 415 yards per game on the ground.

A big reason for that has been their starting running back, Zach Abey, who’s rushed for 870 yards and nine touchdowns this year. If he has a big game, it could open the floodgates for Navy.
