1. Scott Frost

The obvious choice to replace Mike Riley is Scott Frost. The former National Championship winning quarterback for the Cornhuskers has the pedigree and is the obvious choice when thinking about potential replacements.

The obvious choice often feels like the right choice and while Frost is only in his second year as a head coach, there might be no better time than now for him to make the jump. In two years with Central Florida, he has helped turn the program around.

He inherited a program that went 0-12 the season before he arrived and managed to get six wins out of them in his first season. He has them off to an undefeated start this year and the resurgence is clearly there.

Would the time to jump ship be now while riding the hot hand? For Frost, there might be no better opportunity than now to return home and try and lead his former program back to their glory days again.

He knows what it’s like to win a National Championship with the program and the work that goes into being a winner. His career is still young but he’s off to the best start anyone could have imagined with Central Florida. He is the likely frontrunner once Riley is shown the door.
