High Value Quarterbacks

Carson Palmer – Arizona Cardinals ($6100): The NFL’s leader in passing yards in Arizona Cardinals’ quarterback Carson Palmer. The veteran signal caller has been completely abandoned by his running game and forced to throw more than any other quarterback in the league. This week Arizona gets a great matchup in the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Tampa Bay’s defense is allowing the fifth most fantasy points per game to opposing quarterbacks. Even with newly acquired Adrian Peterson in the backfield, Palmer will be throwing the ball. This is a great value just outside the top ten which will allow you to spend money on some of the better running back matchups in Week 6.

Ben Roethlisberger – Pittsburgh Steelers ($5700): Despite the poor play, Pittsburgh Steelers’ quarterback Ben Roethlisberger makes the value list. He’s valued right about where you’d expect someone coming off of a five interception game would be valued. The Steelers offense is still loaded with talent and may be due for a rebound game. This week the Steelers play the best team in the league, the Kansas City Chiefs. For all the great play going on in Kansas City, they are still one of the top ten friendliest defenses to opposing quarterbacks. Roethlisberger, after a weird week in the media, can rebound with a strong performance.

Josh McCown – New York Jets ($5200): Any quarterback playing the New England Patriots will appear on this list. This week that honor falls to New York Jets’ quarterback Josh McCown. McCown is coming off a three game winning streak and catching the Patriots off of a bye. That’s a tough play for any quarterback, nevermind one on an offense as void of playmakers as the Jets are this year. The matchup is the only reason McCown makes the list. He’s tough to throw into a lineup given the Patriots track record after a bye. One positive is that they’ll likely be throwing early and often with the Patriots likely out to an early lead.
