College Football Playoff Rankings 2017: Projected top four after Week 7
By Brad Weiss
It took a couple of minutes to get going, but by the time the Georgia Bulldogs hit halftime in their game against Missouri, they had taken control of the game. The Tigers played Georgia tough through the first 15 minutes, matching them with two touchdowns of their ownv as they went to the second quarter tied at 14. The Bulldogs reeled off 20 points in the second quarter, getting out to a comfortable lead, and did not look back the rest of the way.
When the smoke cleared, the Bulldogs put up over 50 points on the Tigers defense and rolled to their seventh win in as many tries this season. Sony Michel led the way on the ground, racking up nearly 90 yards to go along with his two touchdowns. While Nick Chubb did not find the end zone, he countered Michel nicely in the running game, which then enabled Jake Fromm to have time to do some damage through the air.
Georgia’s Freshman quarterback threw for over 325 yards in the air against the Tigers, finding the end zone twice. He has been so good since taking over for Jacob Eason and has the Bulldogs firmly in place as the favorite to win the SEC East Division. A matchup with Alabama is almost certainly on the docket once the regular season is over, and both of these teams have played well enough to get into the dance, even though one will have a loss after the SEC title game.
The defense showed some holes on Saturday night, but nothing too major that cannot be fixed. Head coach Kirby Smart has turned this program back into a winner, and they have the horses to really match Alabama in a potential SEC title game. A road game against Auburn still looms on the schedule, but I would put money on two undefeated teams doing battle in the SEC Championship in a couple of months.
