Loser – Butch Jones

It’s hard to see Butch Jones getting another week to coach the Tennessee Volunteers. Then again, it was hard seeing him surviving the bye week and yet he managed to get another chance to coach his team.

This time, it was an ugly close loss at home against South Carolina. While the Volunteers had their shot at the end, they fell just short and dropped another key game in a year where it’s becoming clear that disappointment is going to strike.

Once again, the odds of winning the SEC East is next to nothing as they have let each of the division contenders defeat them at this point. The Gamecocks were just the latest to push Tennessee down the standings.

Alabama is up next for the Volunteers and that’s about where the end of the line could be. A loss there pushes them to a losing record on the year. In fact, it wouldn’t be surprising if someone else is calling the shots in the interim for that game as it’s likely going to be ugly.

With two straight road games on tap for the program, if they’re going to make the move the time is now. There’s no point in keeping him around another couple of weeks if they plan on removing him at this point.
