The New Orleans Saints defeated the Detroit Lions on Sunday afternoon in Week 6, 52-38. Here are all the highlights, the game recap and the final score.

If you like points and prefer Big 12 football, well, this game between the New Orleans Saints and the Detroit Lions was for you. This game amassed a ridiculous 90 points, as the Saints tamed the Lions, 52-38 in Week 6. New Orleans improves to 3-2, while Detroit stumbles to 3-3 on the year.

New Orleans would take a huge 31-10 lead at halftime. Even with the Saints’ reputation for having a terrible defense, it didn’t seem like they were going to blow the lead. No, they didn’t, but the Lions did make it too close for comfort in the second half.

The Saints would lead by as much as 35 points in this game. Detroit would get as close as seven with 28 unanswered points in the second half. That would be undone with a pick-six by defensive end Cameron Jordan of Matthew Stafford. That would give us the deciding score, as New Orleans wins its third game in a row.

Detroit is not the same team since losing at the goal line to the Atlanta Falcons in Week 3 at home. The defense is giving up points in bunches and might actually be worse than the Saints’. New Orleans looks to be very much a contender in the ultra-competitive NFC South.

This win puts the Saints only one game back of the Carolina Panthers in the divisional race, a team they beat back in Week 3 to get their first win of the season. This Saints offense is high-octane and New Orleans seems to have enough firepower to compete on the defensive side of the ball for the first time in years.

Detroit has to feel horrible with how the last few weeks have gone. The Lions have fallen to .500 as they enter their bye in Week 7. With Aaron Rodgers being out for the year with a broken collarbone, the NFC North is wide open. Detroit needs to regroup to have a shot at winning the division. New Orleans should be ecstatic to be 3-2 through six weeks.
