Mountain Dew to celebrate Dale Earnhardt Jr.’s final race in several ways

When Dale Jr. takes his final laps in the No. 88 Mountain Dew car, the brand is making sure that it will memorable.

Talladega 2017 will be memorable for NASCAR fans because it will be the final time Dale Earnhardt Jr. will compete in the No. 88 Mountain Dew car. Mountain Dew’s plans for those final moments of Earnhardt’s career not only involve the legendary driver himself, but many of his fans as well.

The first element of the send-off is the car itself. According to a press release, the No. 88 car on Sunday will feature the names of more than 50,000 fans who participated in the “Ride with Jr.” program. Fans who took advantage of the program can find where their names are located on the car on the program’s web site.

The next way that fans can memorialize the final race of Earnhardt’s career is with a television commercial produced specifically for the event. The 60-second ad will air Sunday on NBC during the race coverage. It will feature Chase Elliott and Rick Hendrick. A preview of the commercial has already been released.

The final way that fans can celebrate Earnhardt’s final competition extends beyond Talladega. Mountain Dew will release limited edition “Cheers to Dale Jr.” cans of its beverage product in stores across the United States soon as well.

Earnhardt has given fans many memories in the No. 88 Mountain Dew car over the decade that he has driven the car. That partnership has also brought some tremendous exposure to PepsiCo’s popular soft drink brand. Because of that, it’s fitting that as Earnhardt ends his career, he is celebrated accordingly.
