2. Getting hot at the right time

Now is the time for the Cubs’ bats to get hot. The Cubs finished the regular season much stronger than the Dodgers, who weathered an 11-game skid in September that included losses to every NL West team. The Dodgers might be red-hot now, but how long will it last?

The Dodgers swept the Arizona Diamondbacks in three quick games in the NLDS, and they’re making it look easy with two wins early in the NLCS. But can they finish strong?

During the regular season, well before the clean sweep in the NLDS, the Dodgers were playing a game of hot and cold in September. While they have the most wins in the division, they also lost a lot of games coming down the stretch which suggests that this hot streak might cool off soon.

Speaking of hot, the Dodgers have been playing in a very warm Southern California climate the past week with temps hitting the 90s and now they’re heading to Chicago, where the daytime temps have been in the mid- to high 60s and they drop considerably at night. After spending so much time in the sun, maybe the change in temperatures will give the Cubs an edge when they come back home. (Anything helps, right? Right?)
