30 biggest questions for the 2017-18 NBA season
26. Who will end the season as the Chicago Bulls starting point guard?
The Chicago Bulls have point guards. A lot of point guards. Zach LaVine, Cameron Payne, Jerian Grant, and Kris Dunn are all point guards (ish).
I admire the Bulls strategy. They know that it’s a point guard dominated league. The last three MVPs have been a point guard. Teams that reach the NBA Finals typically have a star point guard. The Bulls are either fielding an entire team full of point guards or they’re playing the odds and figuring the more point guards they have, the better chance that one of them is good.
I never want to hear criticism of Gar Forman again. He’s a revolutionist.
Back to the original question, who ends the season as the Bulls point guard? Probably none of those guys. LaVine is better suited to play shooting guard, Payne doesn’t appear to be very good, Grant went to Notre Dame, and Dunn can’t shoot. If it were somehow possible to combine all four point guards, the Bulls would have a solid Reggie Jackson on their hands.
I believe you will end the season as the Bulls starting point guard. Yes, you, person reading this. Chicago will become so desperate for attention that they’ll go to The Proving Ground to scout for talent. You’ll embarrass everyone at the Proving Ground, talk to a Bulls executive who invites you to practice, embarrass the Bulls A-squad and B-squad, and end up with a contract. That’s how the NBA works in 2017-18 and that’s how you will end up as the Chicago Bulls starting point guard.
