2018 NFL Mock Draft: 49ers get their franchise quarterback
By Brad Weiss
The New York Giants finally put a one in the win column on Sunday night, as they beat the Denver Broncos pretty soundly on the road. Last weekend, the Giants lost nearly all of their production on offense, as Odell Beckham Jr. and Brandon Marshall were lost for the season. This team is going to struggle to win games the rest of the way, which could bring wholesale changes all over the organization next summer.
If the team does struggle in 2017, they will likely be drafting in the top-5 of the draft. With that pick, they should look to bring in the best offensive lineman this draft class has to offer. That player would be Mike McGlinchey of Notre Dame, who projects to stay on the left side of the offensive line at the next level. New York has struggled with their left tackle position for some time, and McGlinchey could slide in and start there as a rookie.
McGlinchey is a very strong player, and he has the feet needed to play left tackle at the NFL level. Giants’ quarterback Eli Manning is not getting any younger, so being able to protect him has to be priority No. 1 at this point. If he can get time, it will open up things downfield, which would lead to Beckham being even more productive once he returns from his broken ankle next season.
