NFL Draft 2018: Updated ranking of the top 32 draft prospects entering Week 8
Bradley Chubb is one of the elite forces at the defensive end spot in college football. He’s also as tough as anyone that plays the position. He showed off that toughness on Saturday, in a win over Pittsburgh.
Chubb would dislocate his finger one on play and it was perpendicular to the rest of his hand overall. After getting it put back in place, Chubb made his return to the playing field like an absolute warrior.
He had two tackles, a pass defensed and a couple of quarterback hurries on the day. He was winning his one-on-one battles and making life tough on the quarterback at will. That allowed the rest of his defense to step and force some turnovers as well.
Chubb continues to rise each week as one of the top pass rushers in the country. His toughness is an added attribute that was put on display as well this week. Coaches will love a player that will get back on the field despite a gruesome injury such as that.
The LSU Tigers had to grind out a win on the road in impressive fashion over the No. 10 Auburn Tigers. Picking up a win on the road against a top-10 opponent is never an easy task for any program.
In a tough game, tough yards are going to be had on the ground. Derrius Guice had to fight for every yard that he had against the Tigers on Saturday. He finished the afternoon with 71 yards on 20 carries.
While those numbers aren’t the biggest by any stretch, it’s a good sign that he’s getting a healthy amount of carries. The previous two weeks he has seen a fair amount of touches which is a great sign that he’s healthy.
With plenty of other talented running backs, Guice is in the conversation with them. Much like Leonard Fournette, everyone knows what he can do when he does get the ball in his hands. Some days, the tough yards will be had. The most important thing for LSU is they got the job done on the road.
