Maurice Hurst

DL, Michigan

The Michigan defense continues to carry the program each week. While the offense remains a work in progress, Maurice Hurst continues to prove that he is a bad, bad man out on the field every snap.

The defensive lineman had six tackles and half a sack while spending the afternoon in the Indiana backfield. In fact, the Hoosiers’ offensive line is probably thankful that they don’t have to see him in Bloomington anytime soon.

Up next will be the biggest test of the season for Hurst and Michigan. They have a road game against Penn State and Saquon Barkley. Trying to contain the Heisman candidate is not going to be easy.

This is also a game where the Wolverines can get right back into the thick of the Big Ten East race with an upset victory on the road. They’re going to need a standout defensive performance from Hurst if they are going to.

Tarvarus McFadden

CB, Florida State

Tarvarus McFadden has the talent to be the best cornerback in his class. However, his year hasn’t really stood out like many expected it to. To be fair, a lot of that can be said for Florida State thus far this season.

After the injury early on in the season to Deondre Francois, the team has had to survive on a week-by-week basis. McFadden when locking onto a receiver still does a great job of shutting them down.

He’s a large cornerback and that makes it tougher on the guy that ends up lining across from. When he’s engaged and his head is in the game, there are very few that possess the talent that he does.

Right now, he’s having an average year by his standards but that doesn’t take away from what he can do. Perhaps one big performances is all that he needs to reminder everyone why he should be a high pick.
