College Football AP Top 25: Winners and losers of Week 9
Loser: Oklahoma State Cowboys (No. 10 down to No. 11)
Not often can a team win a close game on the road in conference play and still move down in the AP Top 25, but Oklahoma State didn’t quite impress enough voters in Week 8, going from No. 10 down to 11. It might not seem like much of a drop, but it’s still enough to make the Cowboys one of the losers in this week’s poll.
Mike Gundy joked about the overtime win over a gritty Texas team on Saturday night, saying that he wanted to get his team all packed up and on the way home before someone changed their mind and made the Cowboys play the Longhorns again.
It was a hard-fought effort, but in the end, it was Oklahoma State that prevailed in overtime as Sam Ehlinger threw a pick in the end zone to close the book on the Big 12 instant class. Not many teams can hold Oklahoma State’s dominant offense to 13 points, but Texas did just that.
Is Oklahoma State struggling or is Texas just that good? It’s tough to tell, but the Longhorns seem to play everyone close. Still, an overtime performance despite being an overwhelming favorite dropped the Cowboys out of the top 10.
