NFL quarterback rankings, Week 8: Carson Wentz shines
Joe Montana Division
4. Carson Wentz (Prev: 9)
Wentz belongs in the top division at this point. He’s already thrown for 17 touchdowns and just shy of 2,000 yards in his second season. Combine those stats with Philadelphia sitting at 6-1, and Wentz is a force.
3. Alex Smith (Prev: 3)
Smith has to stay here despite a pair of losses in five days. The 32-year-old is having a career year with 15 touchdowns against zero interceptions. He’s also leading the league in completion rate (72.4), yards per attempt (8.68) and is second in yardage (1,979). At this point, it’s fair to wonder if Smith is having a late-season renaissance a la Rich Gannon.
Next: Every NFL team's greatest moment of all-time
2. Drew Brees (Prev: 2)
Brees is having a terrific season despite nearing 40 years old. The Saints are 4-2 and Brees is thriving despite and offseason that saw the trade of Brandin Cooks to New England. The future Hall of Famer is completing 69 percent of his passes with 1,652 yards and 11 touchdowns in six games. Incredible.
1. Tom Brady (Prev: 1)
Brady remains the best quarterback in the game, and perhaps of all time. The 40-year-old has a league-best 2,208 yards with 15 touchdowns against two interceptions. It’s simply amazing.
