Lamar Jackson

Quarterback, Louisville

The Jacksonville Jaguars are currently a playoff team, but their success this season has come mostly despite the fact they are getting bad play from Blake Bortles at quarterback. This past weekend, Bortles picked apart the Indianapolis Colts secondary and did it without Leonard Fournette at running back. Still, his good games are few and far between, and the organization needs to go out and get somebody they can seriously consider a franchise quarterback at this point.

Lamar Jackson from Louisville has been one of the best players in college football over the past two seasons, winning the Heisman Trophy after his stellar 2016 campaign. When it comes time for the draft, Jackson should hear his name called in the first round, as he has those intangibles you look for in a quarterback. He is the definition of a leader, and the Jaguars have not had that kind of personality at the quarterback position since Mark Brunell.

There are going to be so many naysayers when it comes to Jackson, as some believe his game does not translate to the pro level. That is nonsense, and when all is said and done, he could wind up being one of the top quarterbacks taken in this draft. He is a special talent, and with all the players Jacksonville has brought in lately, adding a star-caliber quarterback could be just what they need to finally be a player in a very close AFC South.
