Mike McGlinchey

Offensive Tackle, Notre Dame

The Indianapolis Colts took on the Jacksonville Jaguars this past weekend, and they looked like arguably the worst team in the league. Indianapolis could do nothing offensively against the Jags, as they were shutout at home by a team that is very mediocre on the defensive side of the ball. With each passing week, it is looking more and more likely like Andrew Luck will not be back this season, and that would guarantee a top-5 pick for the Colts in next April’s draft.

With a pick that high, and without a need for a quarterback, the Colts may wind up trading this pick to a team desperate to find a new signal-caller. If they do hang on to the pick, they should look to bring in someone who is going to protect Luck, and that would be Mike McGlinchey. In a draft loaded with offensive line talent, McGlinchey stands out as the best offensive tackle this draft class has to offer.

At the next level, McGlinchey could stay on the left side, and Luck needs someone who is going to protect his blind side. Luck has been beaten up during his career, and despite being a franchise quarterback, the organization has really done nothing to help him. After shoulder surgery, and likely sitting out the 2017 season, Luck should be back to 100 percent next season, and this team needs to make sure they protect their No. 1 asset for the rest of his NFL career.
