2018 NFL Mock Draft: Browns select another QB No. 1
By Brad Weiss
The Cincinnati Bengals lost a tough game to the Pittsburgh Steelers on Sunday, and it is evident that they no longer are much of a test for their division rival. In what is likely head coach Marvin Lewis’ last season at the helm, the Bengals have become one of the worst teams in the AFC, and their attitude as a team just stinks right now. Guys like Adam Jones and Vontaze Burfict have to go, as they are bringing a terrible culture into this locker room, and bringing down the young players.
As it stands, the Bengals will likely be drafting in the top-10 picks next season, and they need to bring in some new leadership on the defensive side of the ball. Derwin James from Florida State is the best defensive back in this draft class, and he has the talent to play all over the secondary. If the team decides to let guys like Jones go from their secondary, they are going to have to bring in players who can supplement that loss in the defensive backfield.
When it comes to safeties, James is the best in college football, but he has the coverage skills to even play cornerback at the next level. He is also the return man for Florida State, making him one of the more versatile players in college football. Cincinnati has some very talented, young players on the offensive side of the ball, and if the defense can catch up, they could be a challenge in the AFC North before long.
