Josh Allen

Quarterback, Wyoming

The New York Jets were supposed to be so bad this season that they would be drafting first overall next April. Well, nobody decided to tell the current players they were supposed to be losing, and they have actually played some good football this season. Had it not been for a controversial call against New England, blowing a 14-point fourth quarter lead, they would actually be sitting at 5-2 right now. Instead, they are 3-4, and all signs point to them picking within the top ten picks in 2018.

With that pick, the Jets need to draft a quarterback, especially if they are picking this early. While his career at Wyoming is coming to a pitiful end, Josh Allen is still rated as one of the better quarterback prospects in this draft class. Prior to the season, many believed he would be the first overall pick, so grabbing him with the No. 9 overall selection would seem like a steal at this point.

Allen has a big arm, and with the current roster of the Jets, he may actually be able to sit a year and learn if the team bring Josh McCown back. The defense has been stellar this season, albeit for this past weekend’s hiccup against the Miami Dolphins, so the franchise is being built back up. The Jets needs to fill in a lot of positions moving forward, but getting the right man under center has to be priority No. 1 at this point.
