2. Do not mess with Dodgers whose last names start with T

The last time the Los Angeles Dodgers were in action was when they claimed a Game 5 victory in the National League Championship Series over the Chicago Cubs. The Championship Series saw Chris Taylor and Justin Turner crowned co-MVPs after standout performances that helped lead the Dodgers to a 4-1 series win over the Cubs.

The T-Team of Taylor and Turner did it again in Game 1 of the World Series, with Taylor’s solo home run putting the Dodgers on the board in the first inning and Turner’s 2-run homer in the sixth inning that sealed the deal and won the game.

After his performance in Game 1, Turner now has four postseason home runs and 14 RBI to push him past Dusty Baker’s 1977 postseason RBI club record of 13. Not too bad considering we still have at least a few more games to go in the World Series and plenty of opportunities to add to that total.

What we learn from this is that there is clearly no such thing as nerves for this dynamic duo. Taylor’s home run came off of Dallas Keuchel’s 87.9 MPH fastball while Turner had no trouble lifting Keuchel’s 87 MPH cutter out of the park. In both cases, the pitches were left up, which allowed them to get under the balls enough to send them flying. You can bet the Astros are watching film and planning to stay low in Wednesday’s game.
