22. Detroit Lions: Trade Eric Ebron

Let’s just say if the Detroit Lions could go back in time, they probably wouldn’t have taken Eric Ebron in the 2014 draft. Even though the Lions picked up Ebron’s fifth-year option for next season, he’s still been a major disappointment With free agency looming in the next couple years, now might be the time for the Lions to say sayonara to their former first-round draft pick.

Other than a decent year in 2016, what has Ebron brought the Lions offense? He’s caught more than one touchdown in just one of his four seasons and it’s not like he’s being neglected in the offensive game plan. Matthew Stafford loves to air out the football, but Ebron just hasn’t been a reliable enough of a target to get consistent looks.

There wouldn’t be a huge market for Ebron like some other players this trade deadline, but the Lions could certainly get some help for him. They’re desperate for some depth on the offensive line and serviceable backup guard or tackle could be a decent trade in return. If anything, draft picks are always an option.

From what we’ve seen from Ebron in his almost four years, it’s clearly not working with the Lions. Sure they can wait until next season to make a move, but Bob Quinn and the front office should at least explore their options.
