NFL trade deadline: One move every team should make

18. Jacksonville Jaguars: Trade for Chris Baker
The Jaguars have been a surprising team this season. They’re getting to the quarterback so many people are calling them Sacksonville. While I don’t agree with the name change, you can’t discredit the pressure they’re putting on the quarterback. But with that being said, the Jags defense still has their vulnerabilities, especially against the run.
The Jaguars have one of the best pass defenses in the league but also one of the worst run defenses. They’re giving up 138.6 yards per game on the ground and as great as Yannick Ngakoue and Calais Campbell are playing at defensive end the interior of the defensive line is a problem. A move the Jaguars should highly consider making is calling their next-door neighbors in Tampa Bay about Chris Baker.
After signing his big offseason deal with the Buccanneers, it hasn’t been pretty for Chris Baker. Along with safety T.J. Ward, Baker has expressed his displeasure with the amount of playing time he’s gotten this season. And with the Bucs struggling on a three-game skid, the last thing they want is to be dealing with this. You rarely see it happen, but there’s definitely a possibility Baker could be traded not even a season after signing a big deal.
Adding in Baker would be huge for the Jaguars’ interior defensive line. Baker is a run stuffer and player that demands double teams from offensive lineman. It would open up more holes for Myles Jack and Telvin Smith to make plays in the running game. It wouldn’t be a cap friendly trade for either side but a move that could benefit the Jaguars greatly.
